Frequently Asked Questions

When do you come during labor and how long do you stay?

I am in contact with families during the start of their labor and come to your home or place of birth when you feel that extra support is needed. For some families this is in late early labor and others it is during active labor. After the birth I typically stay for 1-2 hours or longer depending on individual circumstances.

What if my birth plans change? How can you support me during this?

Birth is rarely a straight path. There are twists and turns and speed bumps that occur. I provide support and education during these times. I never make decisions for a family but can provide pros, cons, and additional education for you to make the best decision for you and your family.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! I accept TriCare and MediCal insurance. I bill these insurances directly for my clients. For other insurances, HSAs, employer beneits etc. I can provide you with a super bill including my NPI and Tax ID number for you to submit for reimbursement.

What do you do when supporting your birthing clients during labor and birth?

I use a variety of techniques during labor and birth including, counter pressure, aromatherapy, hot packs/cold packs, massage, position changes, Spinning Babies®, affirmations and visualization. In addition, I provide education surrounding various choices during a birth as well. At other times just holding space for the birthing person and families and just being present is what is most helpful.
